Event organised by ACT | The App Association

With the support of Dita Charanzová, Vice President of the European Parliament

The Digital Services Act package is intended to strengthen the Single Market for digital services by modernizing the legal framework of the E-Commerce Directive and introducing the possibility of new obligations for gatekeeper platforms. These changes will cause ripple effects throughout the platform ecosystem, from the largest stakeholders to the smallest micro-enterprise, across verticals as diverse as social media websites, e-commerce marketplaces and app stores.

To ensure all voices are heard in this important debate, this webinar will connect app developers with policymakers, legal professionals and academics to share the specific problems developers experience in the app economy and to discuss how effective the European Commission proposals may be in addressing these concerns. In the rapidly-growing and thriving app ecosystem, it is more important than ever to support the growth, competitiveness and innovation of European app developers.

Some of the questions that will be addressed in this discussion series include:

  • How will new obligations on gatekeeper platforms affect small app developers?
  • How can we enhance the innovation potential of smaller digital players in the European Union?
  • What are the real problems European SMEs experience in the app economy and how can we help?
